OSLO, December 5, 2024 – Kezzler, in collaboration with Versalis (Eni) and Cariplo Factory, is proud to announce the launch of a new pilot project aimed at testing Digital Product Passports (DPP) to enhance product traceability and transparency in the chemical industry. The project falls within the scope of the Federated Innovation @MIND ecosystem. It is set to run for six months, and will focus on a select number of products produced by Versalis (Eni), one of Europe’s largest chemical manufacturers.
Project overview
The goal of the DPP pilot is to digitize the lifecycle of polystyrene foam products. This enables Versalis (Eni) to easily share relevant product data via a secure, digital platform. Kezzler’s Connected Products Platform (CPP) will play a pivotal role in the pilot, providing unique digital identities for each product. This identifier, visible on the packaging as a QR code, contains critical production information such as material composition. Users can scan the QR code to access a dedicated landing page where all product data is stored and made available in real time.
This innovative approach to traceability is part of a broader effort to improve operational efficiency by reducing reliance on traditional paper-based methods of communication. By adopting Digital Product Passports, Versalis (Eni) is taking a significant step toward meeting the requirements of the European Union’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), contributing to a more sustainable and circular future.
Collaboration with Cariplo Factory and Federated Innovation @MIND
As a key partner in this project, Cariplo Factory serves as an innovation catalyst. They provide services to foster collaboration between Kezzler, Versalis (Eni), and other stakeholders within the Federated Innovation @MIND ecosystem. The ecosystem’s initiative is committed to driving open innovation, focusing on ESG goals and preparing companies for future regulatory frameworks like the Digital Product Passport (DPP).
What’s next?
Kezzler is excited to work closely with Versalis (Eni) and Cariplo Factory throughout this pilot. We look forward to demonstrating how our Connected Products Platform can help enhance traceability, simplify compliance, and drive sustainability across the value chain.
Stay tuned for more updates as we progress through this exciting project!
