OSLO, Norway and SEATTLE, Wash. — August 10, 2026 — Kezzler, a global leader in digital supply chains and traceability, and iFoodDS, a leading provider of connected traceability, quality, and food safety software solutions, today announced the successful completion of a data interoperability proof of concept. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in industry-wide efforts to achieve seamless data exchange as required by the FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Section 204.
As the industry prepares for the upcoming compliance deadlines, FSMA 204 mandates that entities across the food supply chain maintain and share specific Key Data Elements (KDEs) for Critical Tracking Events (CTEs) for foods on the Food Traceability List (FTL). Recognizing that global supply chains rely on a diverse ecosystem of technology providers, Kezzler and iFoodDS have validated a technical connector to demonstrate that critical regulatory data can move seamlessly across the different platforms used by organizations within the same supply chain.
Operationalizing interoperability for FSMA 204
The integration successfully demonstrated the exchange of KDEs for Shipping Events alongside essential master data. The integration was validated using master product data for foods on the FTL, which includes high-risk categories such as:
- Products containing nut butters
- Products containing cheese
- Fresh produce
Between these three categories, iFoodDS and Kezzler were able to exchange data for not only raw products, like romaine lettuce and tomatoes, but also processed products that include ingredients on the FTL.
The platforms exchanged data using RESTful APIs, enabling near real-time communication and more flexible data exchange than traditional batch-oriented EDI. This reduces latency between physical product movement and the availability of its corresponding digital traceability records.
“FSMA 204 compliance is not an isolated task. Interoperability is the linchpin of a transparent and safe food system; it requires a connected digital ecosystem,” said Frederic Clulow, General Manager at Kezzler. “By demonstrating our ability to exchange data with iFoodDS, we are removing the friction of sharing KDEs between different technical service providers and giving our respective clients the interoperability they need across the supply chain to meet FDA requirements with confidence.”
“Food suppliers need a practical way to meet FSMA 204 requirements without adding complexity to their operations,” said Andrew Kennedy, Chief Traceability Officer for iFoodDS. “This collaboration demonstrates how critical traceability data can move across platforms to reduce supplier burden, support compliance, and help downstream customers receive the information they need.”
This successful integration provides a scalable blueprint for trade partners to achieve compliance while enhancing overall supply chain visibility.
